11 Plus Tutor

11 Plus Tuition was set up to provide tuition targeted specifically towards children taking the 11 + Entrance Examinations into State Grammar Schools (including Tiffin and Sutton Schools), and all Independent Schools in London and the Counties.

There are tutor centres based in Kingston (Surbiton), Sutton, Wimbledon, Hampton and Richmond (Kew).

The main tutor, Gwenda Jones BSc (Hons), PGCE is a graduate teacher with over 20 years teaching experience specifically preparing pupils for the 11 + Entrance Examinations. Gwenda has an excellent success rate with over 92% pass rate for a State Grammar or Independent School, with many of her pupils receiving awards or scholarships.

Independent Day Schools in London and the Counties

Kingston Grammar, Hampton Boys’, Lady Eleanor Holles, Wimbledon High, Putney High, King’s College, St Paul’s, St Paul’s Girls’, Godolphin and Latymer, Surbiton High, Latymer Upper, Nottinghill and Ealing, Francis Holland, St Catherine’s, Notre Dame, Claremont Fan Court and all other schools in and around London.

Independent Boarding Schools throughout the UK

We tutor towards the Common Entrance Examination as required for entry into independent boarding schools.

It is highly recommended that children start tuition in the second term of Year 4 (most start in January) and definitely by the time they enter Year 5 in order to ensure sufficient time to cover all the work required. We have found that our success rate of over 92% is generally achieved by those children who have attended 11 Plus Tuition for 1.5 to 2 years prior to the September they start their exams in Year 6. If, however, you have left it later than this, please do not panic – our success rate with children starting later is still excellent (> 83%).

You will usually need to reserve your child’s place well in advance of them starting (places are being booked up to two years in advance in some venues).

Gwenda has developed an excellent, progressive teaching system using her own course materials, a wide range of workbooks and past exam paper practice. The children are thoroughly tutored and prepared for their selected schools, usually taking them to a much higher level than specified to ensure they have the greatest opportunity to succeed in gaining a place.
