11+ Examinations are sat in Year 6 for year 7 entry. Entry is decided by examination only. The main four areas tested by these schools are Verbal reasoning, Non-verbal reasoning, Maths and English in various combinations. Some schools will also test ability in Science and/or General knowledge. Examinations take place at varying times between September and February depending on the school. Individual schools need to be contacted as early as possible for details of entry requirements, examination dates and catchments policies. Interviews Most schools conduct formal interviews as part of their selection process. The courses at 11+ Tuition will cover interview practice and technique Open Days/Evenings Schools will usually request parents come to their open evenings and it is advisable to take this opportunity to get a feel for the school and assess its suitability for your child. Many schools will allow private visits by arrangement. You should also think about the distance of the school from your home, especially if you have other children attending different schools. Remember, you will have to do this journey on a daily basis. Bursaries and Scholarships These are offered by many independent schools but each school will need to be contacted for details. Some schools will also offer means tested financial assistance. Fees and Payment methods There are various ways in which school fees can be paid.
