11+ Tutoring System

Tuition is specifically geared towards the 11+ Entrance Examinations into State Grammar and Independent Schools. All children attend a weekly tuition session with Gwenda at one of the centres, which covers English, Mathematics, Verbal and Non-Verbal Reasoning and consists of a combination of individual tuition and timed exam practice.

Year 5/6 pupils also attend a second session on alternate Saturdays which covers Exam Practice, Timing and Technique (more challenging papers are given in these sessions).

Subjects covered include:

• Verbal and Non-verbal Reasoning
• Spelling and Grammar - Creative Writing - Comprehension
• Times Tables - Mathematics
• Science (as needed) - General Knowledge - Interview Technique

Exam Practice and Technique

The alternate Saturday sessions are specifically for timed exam practice and technique. Appropriate exam papers and past papers from various schools will be used to provide the children with hands-on training in exam technique and timing. Interview technique will also be covered. While these sessions are optional for high-achieving Year 4 pupils, they form an essential part of the 11+ exam preparation for those pupils in Year 5 and 6.

Homework

Homework is set on an individual basis each week and forms an important part of the course. We will suggest the appropriate books to purchase after assessing your child’s level in each subject (during the first lesson). Any problems they might have are dealt with on an individual basis at the next tuition session. You will receive a separate information sheet about homework at the first lesson.

Fees
 
Fees are paid on a monthly basis and are inclusive of all text books, resources, equipment and past exam papers.
